A calculation is a promise about how a building will behave for the next hundred years.

Diagrid Engineering is a structural engineering practice working across residential and commercial projects. We size the beams, resolve the load paths and produce the drawings and calculations that let your project be approved, priced and built without surprises.

Every scheme is modelled in Revit and analysed in STAAD.Pro, so what your builder receives on site is what we actually checked, and material efficiency is designed in rather than value-engineered out later.

How a Diagrid project runs

01Enquiry & scope

You send drawings or photographs. We confirm what is structurally involved and issue a fixed fee.

02Survey

An engineer attends site, measures the existing structure and identifies the load paths that matter.

03Model & analysis

The scheme is built in Revit and analysed in STAAD.Pro, then checked by a second engineer before issue.

04Issue & support

Drawings and calculations go to building control, and we stay reachable while the work is on site.

“They removed two load bearing walls on a Victorian terrace without a single revision from building control. The calculations arrived before they said they would.”

Homeowner, North London

“We hand Diagrid the messy jobs: old fabric, tight sites, awkward spans. The Revit models come back coordinated and the steel schedule is right first time.”

Director, Architecture Practice

“Forty years of judgement, delivered with modern analysis. They cut 18% of the embodied carbon out of our frame and it still came in under budget.”

Development Director, Commercial Office Developer

Common questions

If yours is not here, the quote form is the fastest way to get a straight answer.

Do I need a structural engineer or an architect?+

Usually both, for different reasons. An architect resolves how the space looks and works; we prove it will stand up. For a straightforward wall removal or a beam replacement you often only need us.

How long do calculations take?+

Ten working days from survey is our average across all project types. Single beam or wall removal jobs are frequently back within five, and we will tell you the date at the point we quote rather than after.

Will building control accept your drawings?+

Yes. Every pack is issued to Eurocode standards with calculations, general arrangement drawings and connection details, checked by a second engineer before it leaves the office. We handle queries from building control directly at no extra fee.

Do you work on listed and period buildings?+

Regularly. Around a third of our residential work involves Victorian or Georgian fabric, where the honest answer is often a lighter intervention than the one originally proposed.

What does sustainable mean in structural terms?+

Less material, retained where possible. We model embodied carbon alongside the structural analysis, favour reuse of existing frames and foundations, and specify timber where the spans and fire strategy allow it.
